About me

Hello, I’m Paula and I hope that as your therapist I will be able to help you find your way through whatever challenges are impacting you right now, to a place where you want to be.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their Ethical Framework.

My approach to counselling is integrative which means I can draw upon different theories and techniques depending on what you need. But my main approach is person-centred and this means that I believe we all have the capacity to change and grow, and I want to be led by you as you know your life best.

I am particularly passionate about helping people navigate and heal from past traumas and difficult family dynamics. But I have experience of helping people with many different issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, physical health problems and caring responsibilities. I also work with people with ADHD and autism, whether you have received a formal diagnosis or not. Click here for more information on the different issues and experiences I work with.

I also have over 20 years’ experience working for various physical and mental health charities supporting people affected by conditions such as stroke, dementia and cancer, as well as depression and anxiety. These experiences have helped me develop more empathy and understanding of the sometimes complex feelings that can arise. It was my own personal journey in therapy that inspired me to train as a counsellor as I wanted to help others through the process of healing and transforming their lives too.
